RTCG and TASC Announces Participants for the 2011 Thai-American Young Leadership Program

The Royal Thai Consulate General (RTCG) Los Angeles and the Thai Association of Southern California (TASC) are proud to announce the participants for the 2011 Thai-American Young Leadership program: Jeerapong Wongchote, Matt Wanaraksa, Supaporn Krobthong, Supattra Lerknant, Victoria Charoonratana, and Elnie Vannatim.

The RTCG Los Angeles and TASC have introduced the Thai-American Young Leadership program in 2010 to educate and prepare future generations of Thai-American leaders to become strong contributors to both Thai and American societies.

After submitting an application and supporting documents, each candidate was invited to a panel interview with RTCG and TASC officials.  The qualified young Thai-Americans were selected based on their academic background, record of community service and their project proposals to serve the Thai-American community.  The selected participants have been provided with flight tickets from Los Angeles to Bangkok, lodging, meals, local transportation in Thailand, and tickets into different places in the program.

The six young Thai-Americans will departure today from the Los Angeles International Airport to the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.  This week-long trip will provide the participants to visit and learn first handedly about different aspects of Thailand in order to strengthen their connection with the Thai-American community and their parent’s home country.  The primary purpose of the program is to continually build future Thai-American leaders who are committed to their own community and are ready to contribute to both the Thai and American societies.

The TASC have asked the participants to blog about their experience as time permits.  Their experience will be shared with the world on this website.
